Dr. LENG Guoyong is a professor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences. Before joining IGSNRR, he has worked as a senior research associate at University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute (ECI), and postdoctoral researcher at US’ Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). His research focuses on the modeling and analysis of hydrological and agricultural responses to climate change/variability and human activities. He has developed a dynamic irrigation scheme considering irrigation water source (surface water and/or groundwater) and irrigation techniques (drip, flood and sprinkler irrigation), and a diagnostic fertilization scheme within the earth system modeling framework. He has authored more than 80 refereed journal articles in the fields of water use, climate change, agricultural production, water-food nexus, droughts/floods, land-atmosphere interaction using process-based models and statistical models.
