GE Yong is a full professor of geographical information science at the State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information System (LREIS), Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is the deputy director of LREIS since 2016 and the director of department of cartography in IGSNRR. Prof. Ge’s research interests broadly focus on the statistical aspects of spatial and spatio-temporal data. Her research topics range from spatial-temporal sampling, scaling, remote sensing image analysis and spatial data quality. Currently she is the associate editor of the Computers and Geosciences and the editor board member of Spatial Statistics, which places it at the Q1 of statistical journals. She is also the guest editor of various special issues of journals. Prof. Ge has authored more than 160 papers in the field of spatial statistics, spatial uncertainty and related fields. She holds eight granted patents in improving the accuracy of information extraction from spatial data.
