Name: CHEN Tongbin
Current Appointment: PhD, Professor, Director Center for Environmental Remediation Laboratory of Territorial Environmental Chemistry and Health Institute of Geographic Sciences and Resources Research Chinese Academy of Sciences Prof. Chen is the director of Laboratory of Territorial Environmental Chemistry and Health, and director of Center for Environmental Remediation, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is also visiting professor at 10 universities such as the Graduate School of CAS, the Sun Yat-sen University, and the State Laboratory of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). He serves as Chairman of Soil Remediation Division of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Society of China, Vice Chairman of Soil Pollution Division of the Soil Science Society of China, and members of the editorial board of 15 scientific journals. He is the corresponding author of more than 200 scientific papers, 8 book chapters. And has been awarded 17 patents. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China and some other academic titles. He discovered the first arsenic-hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata and is presently a chief scientist of land remediation project in the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China. His research interests focus on remediation of contaminated lands, risk assessment of land pollution, and composting of animal wastes and sewage sludge.
