Prof Shi Yulin – acclaimed resource scientist.　While specializing in research on resources, Prof. Shi organized the following key projects: estimation of China’s uncultivated land suitable for farming, estimation of China’s land resources capacity relative to productivity and population, and the production of a 1:1,000,000 land resource map.　In the development of land resource study in China, Prof Shi was the first to raise the theoretical framework for resource engineering, thereby opening up new areas of resource studies. 　He was elected as academician of CAE in 1995.
